We focus on sustainable textiles and domestic manufacturing. Sourced in ways that treat our fellow humans, animals, and our planet with respect.
Who we are
Loranique has started off within a family business that spans 4 generations. We have evolved together with the fashion industry and have seen and experienced the challenges of fast fashion. We are opposed to the mass-production of cheap and disposable clothing. We wanted to start building awareness and willingness to change how we perceive the clothes we buy.
Created with a sustainable design ethos, you can count LORANIQUE to be made from sustainable textiles, including Certified Organic Cotton and Recycled Cotton using eco friendly dyes. Not in the boring neutral brown or beige casual wear but with bright colors and bold prints.
Inspiration
Loranique was born out of the desire to express the individuality inherent in all of us and be unapologetically ourselves.
This creative need coupled with motherhood and the urgency of the climate crisis ended up in this new adventure we have embarked upon. Debbie Litsa had been working in the family fashion business as the fourth generation. Her studies in molecular biology influenced the sustainable & environmentally friendly outlook of the company even more. The arrival of her first child Lora Maria prompted the need for comfortable but cool and fashionable maternity wear. Most maternity and breastfeeding items are boring and repetitive in style. She dreamed to make styles that grow with your changing body, leaving space for a growing belly. Clothes designed to be worn through pregnancy and nursing but look equally stylish years later. As most parents do when looking for suitable baby wear the realization that there are not many genderless clothing options is eye opening. Having grown up in the textile business it was an easy and unconscious step to try and use all the knowledge and experience from our daily business and divert it into something new that would celebrate life, authenticity and be dedicated to rebellious self-love and uniqueness. Thus, the name Lora + unique = Loranique was invented!
Made with love in the EU
Being the 4th generation that works with fabrics and garments we had to uphold my father’s legacy the unconditional use of the best raw materials, and high quality standards. After a long search for suitable partnerships we decided that in order to be truly sustainable we would work only with materials certified by OEKO Tex Standard 100. Product class 1: Includes baby products and has the strictest requirements and limit values. It takes into account many regulated and unregulated substances that can be harmful to human health. In many cases, the limit values for STANDARD 100 exceed national and international requirements. In adittion have been producing under the 100% organic content label GOTS certificate since 2009.
Organic Cotton means that the cotton has been grown on fields without the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides and defoliants. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are prohibited. The certification also mandates that working conditions must be safe and hygienic. GOTS social criteria are based on the key norms of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). There is total transparency and no human and environmental cost and loss of dignity in the making. We are proud to handcraft in Greece the clothes that you see.
