Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) takes the entire production process into account. This means that that every processing step must meet certain criteria. Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognized as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well. The aim of these standards is to define requirements to ensure organic status of textiles the product’s fibers must come from certified organic farming. 95% or more of the fiber content of the products excluding non textile accessories must be of certified organic origin or from cotton in-conversion. The product must not contain materials from GMO technology. The production and processing from harvesting of the raw materials, and manufacturing up to labelling has taken place under circumstances that do not adversely affect the environment and in a socially responsible way. All chemical inputs such as dyestuffs and auxiliaries used must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria and also the choice of accessories is limited under ecological aspects. A functional waste water treatment plant is mandatory for any wet-processing unit involved and all processors must comply with social minimum criteria. After being inspected by Ceres and having been found to be in accordance with the standards of Ceres Certifications C.B.S Readytex has been licensed as follows: Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) Certificate No:59883-1 and Registration No: CERES-0165.
OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
As manufacturers we have been in cooperation with the Association for the Assessment of Environmentally Friendly Textiles (Oeko-Tex International). It is the internationally recognized independent testing and certification system for textiles raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of production. All the fabrics we produce use the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard to evaluate and screen for any harmful substances present in the textiles. The tests for harmful substances in textiles specified in the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 were first introduced in 1992. Both criteria and limit values have been standardized on an international basis and are regularly reviewed and updated. C.B.S -Readytex has been using the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard to evaluate and screen for any harmful substances present within our garments. Testing for harmful substances includes: ilegal substances, legally regulates substances, known harmful (but not legally regulated) chemicals as well as parameters for health care. In their entirety the requirements clearly exceed existing national legislation. Our clothes meet the human-ecological requirements of the standard currently established for baby articles. (Product class I) This means, that they are safe to be worn by all, even at the most sensitive of ages. Baby’s skin is 5 times thinner than an adult, so their skin is more prone to skin irritations. Clothes are in constant contact with our skin therefore safety is of utmost importance. Most importantly babies put clothes in their mouth so we have to be absolutely certain they are safe! Our clothes are tested and screened and are found to be free of all harmful substances. All garments produced by C.B.S Readytex have been tested and accredited by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
